The Ford Falcon BF MkII XR6 Rebel was released by Ford in November 2007, as a limited edition model for New Zealand.
The body kit is unique to this model, and features a modified front bumper with mini rockers on each side, scalloped side rockers, and an insert in the rear bumper valance, treated in an argent colour.
The wheels are five-spoke 18-inch alloys finished in the argent paint colour with a machined face, along with a matching argent wheel centre cap.
The seats are leather and suede. The 'REBEL' text is sewn into the leather headrests, while chrome Rebel badges adorn the left and right front guards, and bootlid.
The BF Falcon Rebel is powered by the Barra 190 motor which develops 190 kW (255 hp) @ 5250 rpm.
The car was also sold in Australia as the BF MkII Upgrade model, where the body kit was named the Aggressor kit. It is also casually known in Australia as the BF 'Mk2.5'. The Australian car was not known as a Rebel and did not have the REBEL text on the headrests or the Rebel badging. These Australian models did not always feature leather seats or the 18" alloy wheels. They were available in an XR8 and XR6T, whereas all NZ Rebel models are an XR6.
At the time, Ford Australia Vice President Marketing and Sales Mark Winslow said." The new look Falcon XR sedan is the most significant upgrade to the exterior design of the performance XR models since BF Falcon was introduced...”
Besides the 18" alloys and aggressor body kit, the Rebel also came with other premium features including a limited slip differential and the ZF 6 speed auto transmission. These upgrades built on the already successful and attractive BA/BF model range's features, and together with the 'NZ only' specifications plus comparatively limited release time before the FG model arrived, make this car a desirable vehicle to own.
